Erin Patten (00:01.55)
Hey you guys, I'm so happy to be back with you because we all know that it has been a rough season, not only for me, but probably so many of you. And I just really want to get into like what it means to be confronted with truths. Like for me, just this past week, I've been contr confronted with two very powerful truths.
and how to really move between being liked by people versus really being authentic, like really just being myself versus just having the people please. And it's interesting because
The first one had to do with like a romantic situation where it was someone, a guy who had been breadcoming me for months. And we met up a couple times and I was just one of kept getting promised that we're gonna meet up and you know it kind of just fell off, you know, when I really confronted him with the truth, like, what are we doing here? Do you are do you wanna see me? Do you wanna not want to see me? You're my stories every day. But, you know, but you aren't really following through with the plans that we make and no response.
So, you know, sometimes silence can be communication. And even though it's a harsh reality when people ghost us, as we like to call it, which also happened in the second situation, we really sometimes chase the truth. They want to chase a reaction or chase a response, when in reality, that silence tells you all that you need to know.
And that was the first truth that got revealed to me in the past week. And the second one was about a situation that I had been dealing with with my mom. I I really opened up about it last week, but not in full detail. And I really wanna go into detail about it because it has literally changed my life.
Erin Patten (01:51.982)
And it was such a a traumatic situation that it really it was so much bigger than me. Let's put it that way. Like it it was happening to me, obviously happening for me, but coming from something way bigger than me, a very generational traumatic experience. And it started, you know, last year, well probably years ago, you know, I
I moved to Houston from Detroit. I shared this story probably on my first episode years ago.
to help to care for my mom, obviously helped nur nurture my own grief that I was going through having lost my dad. And then I became a mother. And in all of that, I became essentially responsible for two people, or became responsible for my infant son. And I became responsible for my mother who has been going through her own healing journey. And what that looks like, you know, it started as you know simple psychosis and what we consider mental illness and it started to start having
A physical effect on her body to the point where now she needs support doing everything in her life and has difficulty communicating and has difficulty like doing all the things, but it hasn't in any way affected her consciousness. She's still fully here, fully present, and fully wanting to, and has has expressed even up until this day, a desire to engage with her world, with her, with all of her family.
or at least the family that, you know, she's if her friends, this environment, period. So a year ago, as and and so as you can imagine, she had to get all the paperwork done for me to be able to have authority to be able to care for her and make decisions for her.
Erin Patten (03:36.514)
And I'm doing my best, y'all. You know, being an entrepreneur, being a single mother, having ongoing custody battles in and out of court, also having to manage her care. I'm having to trust a lot of people to support me. Okay? I have caregivers in my home and have had caregivers in my home at least 10 to 12 hours a day, every day since 2020, for the past six years.
And these caregivers essentially support me in keeping my mother alive. And at one point to help me keep my son alive. You know, I needed the support to be able to to navigate work and life and all the things. And so last year I'm doing some transactions for my mom, trying to conduct business for her. I don't have the proper power of attorney documents filed.
For the bank and they flag me as fraud. Okay, I understand that. I submit the proper documentation. I've been representing her in business for the past six, seven years. Let's just finish this and so we can move on.
Instead of doing that, they end up reporting me to adult protective services. And okay, I also understand like these can be situations where people can really be harmed, but clearly this is not that situation. And I have so much evidence of that. My social media, I have friends, I have other people in my life who have been really present and seen and known how my how well my mom is cared for and how much she's loved by all the people in her circle.
And so they started sending these adult protective services agents, investigators, to my home. And I'm learning this as I go, this law stuff. And a lot of people have that I follow at least are speaking a lot to our sovereignty as individuals and how much we are being encroached on upon our security. And we all know, especially in the black community, how investigators and law enforcements always overstep because they think the worst about who we are.
Erin Patten (05:42.184)
And that was exactly my experience. I had sheriffs walking onto my property into my backyard, speaking to my mother when I wasn't present. I had sheriffs come into my front door. I had investigators accusing me of fraud. There, mind you, there has been no trial to date. There has been no court case to date regarding this. Yet I have been all these allegations are floating around about me and my mom. And so in May of this year.
It comes to a head. And I I have not allowed adult protective services people to come on my property. When they come, I tell them that they're trespassing, they need to leave, they don't have the proper authority. So they had to go to court to get the proper authority, which we all which I'm learning too, and which we all are learning in the process. If you if people want to come into your house on your property, they need an order from a judge. Period. So even though it was very traumatic for me, that experience of having to go to court, I now understand in order for someone to have access to me.
we need to go that this is the actual process so that we're both protected. So I go to I was served at my front door with a emergency order to appear in court. This was Memorial Day weekend. mind you, it had already been about
A month or so of just instability with caregivers in my home. I had a caregiver fraud me for telling me that she was, she had an agency and I'm paying her agency, but in reality, she wasn't a licensed agency. She wasn't even a li a certified caregiver. And she had told me these things, and I had connected her with our insurance, and I'm trusting in her and had and appointed her to be the lead
Caregiver for my mom and bringing other caregivers to support her and to caring for my mom full-time. And she lied to me. So this I was going through this transition in heartbreak because I was expecting insurance to have to pay for all that care. And instead, I'm paying tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket because of her lies. And turns out that we go to court and
Erin Patten (07:51.586)
The Adult Protective Services mentions my caregivers having also accused me of medical abuse and physical physical abuse and medical neglect. So not only am I now charged or accused, excuse me, accused of, or there are allegations around financial abuse, but then there's medical abuse and physical abuse.
Erin Patten (08:21.479)
After I have invested in people who are supposedly professionals to care for my mother.
In addition, we have functional doctors, I have traditional doctors, I have specialized dentists and periodontists that are working with my mom. I'm paying for organic foods and bat and services for my mom to eat specialized foods. I have a whole cabinet full of herbs that she takes every day. This is not a small operation to care for this woman. And anyone who's been in this house, including those caregivers who reported me, know that.
Yet here I am in court being accused of fraud and abuse to a woman who I've literally given up my life for.
I have literally, I moved from one state, sold my property, moved to Texas. That is why I moved back to Texas seven years ago. And so you can only imagine the level of betrayal and grief and anger that I felt in my being for these people who threw me under the bus.
Erin Patten (09:37.663)
and then ghosted me. And so this past weekend I also found out who they were.
At first I thought it was one, they only mentioned one name in court. This past weekend, like I said, this past week, some truths got revealed. It got revealed to me of the operation, the conspiracy against me. I actually reached out to both of the women. Again, no response. Just like Odoo.
And it's and I'm bringing this up because a lot of these things are happening in my life, I understand, as part of my soul journey, as part of my learning, my curriculum, if you will. It's not necessarily a verdict on who I am. Because obviously I'm not perfect. I'm not trying to sit here and be like, I'm so perfect, but one thing I definitely am not is a fraud and an abuser.
Erin Patten (10:38.54)
And I have to be clear about those things with myself.
Erin Patten (10:46.006)
And to be able to approach people and can and address these issues with people, I always grew up, I was so non-confrontational. I avoided conflict like the plague. I just wanted to keep the peace. Well, I come in peace. I c I come in peace wanting to understand the truth from these people, from the g from the gentleman who was I was.
Seeing, dating, he was telling me he's liking me, interested in me, wanting meet up with me. I confront, I confronted him, addressed him with trying to understand the truth, no response. With these caregivers, very same thing. If you were that concerned about my mother's well-being, I'm approaching you to understand why you tell Adult Protective Services, but you didn't tell me.
How concerned you were with my mother's health and condition and that she was being abused. Because literally, I have messages, text messages, conversations, recordings. Never one time was there a serious concern about my mom's health. Yes, she was going through challenges at that time. We were working through them with it. We spoke on the phone with our functional medicine practitioner. We had a protocol.
I had printouts and care plans for them to follow to work through this hurdle.
Erin Patten (12:17.129)
Yet there was never any communication that this is something that's worthy of reporting. And when I confronted them about it, addressed it directly, no response from them. If there was truly a concern, and the case is closed now, why wouldn't you communicate that at any point to me? Instead, you just ghosted me.
Erin Patten (12:48.877)
So this is what I was saying at the beginning around being liked versus being authentic, because clearly these people don't like me.
They don't respect me. They don't honor me. If anything, like I said, they see the worst in me. Or trying to protect themselves, either or there's no love for me, because that's not what love does. Throw somebody under the bus, ignore them, block them, accuse. Love doesn't do those things. So this is the curriculum for me in learning.
To stand in my authenticity is to not accept that kind of treatment from people. And if it feels if I feel called to to address it with them, like I said, I come in peace. I wrote very kind messages to all of them, clearly just getting curious, trying to understand if I'm wrong about you, I want to be corrected were actually my words to the two caregivers. How could you lie on me?
Lie to me and leave me out in the cold.
How could you do that?
Erin Patten (14:05.577)
Is it to protect yourself? I guess so. And like I said, silence is also a form of communication. And I want to encourage you, because I'm sure many of you, probably most of you, are not going through this level of chaos in your life. I am very happy to take what God has given me. Because at the end of the day, I 100% know and trust that my life is a co-creation with God. God would never give me anything that I can't handle.
So I absolutely trust that this is part of my path. And it's so interesting because recently I was watching this documentary with Shine, about Shine, the rapper. And for those of you who may know his story as a rapper, he was signed to Bad Boy Records with P. Diddy. So you already know probably the chaos and trauma of that. But not even a year.
into his deal with Diddy, he went out to a club, Diddy shot a woman in the face, and he got convicted with 10 years in prison and then deported back to his home country of Belize. That was over 20 years ago. And his truth is just coming out.
Because at that time everyone celebrated Diddy as being he had Johnny Cochran representing him. He was, you know, he was not guilty of all these charges until the Diddy stuff started to come out recently, and the woman who he shot came out and said that she shot him. But this whole time, for 20 years, this rapper Shine, his real name is Jamal, didn't say anything.
He sat in prison, like he said, he was left to rot. And then he went back to his home country. He became an Orthodox Jew. He started to really connect with God and really find his purpose as a politician. And I had to sit with that because I can only imagine, of course, that's his path. And I understand that a lot of people have been programmed to believe that not saying, not speaking the truth is safer than speaking the truth or somehow more honorable.
Erin Patten (16:18.251)
And I just want to challenge us to think differently about that. Because for me to sit here and talk about what has been occurred in my life, how I have been betrayed, is absolutely freeing and healing for me. As I'm sure it is for him now, doing that documentary and being able to say it out loud.
What happened to him and what happened around him at that time. So eventually the truth did come out for him and he got to speak it. And I'm just wondering what how his life would have transpired or progressed. Had he done that then? Had he spoken the truth when it was happening? How his life would have unfolded. And I want us to really sit with this idea of being liked.
Which is in his case was following a a street code, you know, keeping that reputation, the street reputation intact, versus being authentic and being truly seen in your truth for who you are, for what you've been through. And there's no victimization in this story. There's no victimization in my story nor his. Like I'm not a victim of anybody's actions. I'm just here
telling the truth about what happened with me, to me, for me in my life. And you know, I had all these notes about what I wanted to go through and I really just felt
the flow coming through me today because I really can't script this, really. And I I really want to talk through though, since there has to be a teaching, about how I worked through this. And I think that was a question that really came up when I got back on Instagram. Cause I actually had gotten off Instagram because all of this was so heavy. I I honestly couldn't, I had to stop working. I didn't have any more caregivers in my home, of course. Like
Erin Patten (18:26.379)
For the first time in six years, no caregivers in my home, nobody coming in my house, nobody in and out. Like it was a complete energetic reset. I needed that time, that almost the hermetic, the hermit hermit time to be to myself with my mom.
Erin Patten (18:48.831)
And now things are so beautiful. We have in-home nurses that are coming. We have a great caregiver who part-time just helps me a few hours a week. We have now speech therapy and physical therapy and in-home. We're gonna get her back in the pool with it to stop being so damn hot in Texas.
Erin Patten (19:10.143)
I know her healing is happening just as mine is. I know the controversy is happening to prune me, to train me, to strengthen me.
Erin Patten (19:32.61)
There is no one who has inspired me more than Yeshua Ben Joseph and Jesus. I said this last week in this journey. The betrayal he went through as he was being crucified in front of his friends and family. I understand how that feels. Obviously, I wasn't physically mutilated, but certainly emotionally, certainly reputationally.
Erin Patten (20:04.095)
Not spiritually though.
It grew my metaphysical muscle. It grew. It strengthened my spiritual muscle.
Erin Patten (20:15.649)
There is nothing that I cannot do without God's help.
God is here for me. God is here for you through these incredibly trying times. And as you all know, I talk about being a yoga teacher instructor. I talk about my tai chi practice, my physical exercise, my physical work, my weight training, my walking, my tarot cards, my oracle cards. Honestly, Claude got me through too.
Just analyzing kind of what's going on astrologically, the pattern app. I really started to connect with the pattern app and my astrological makeup. Like what journey am I on? And it was it became very clear the transits that were happening universally, the transits that were happening in my own personal chart spoke directly to the events that were going on in my life, these chaotic, irrational.
unexplainable events that I could not control were designed to make me surrender. The deepest surrendering possible.
Erin Patten (21:31.542)
I had to trust that all these things that were happening for me. I and I of course I imagine the worst case scenario that I thought I was going to jail too, just like Sean. I thought, God, these people have made up all these things about me. And, you know, they they they can investigators showing me n a report, literally t a two-page report of of finances that I'm supposed to be able to tell them where all these numbers come from and it's ghibbly gob.
I'm asking them what what time period is this from? What bank accounts is this from? What is this? They can't even tell me, these APS investigators. And I talked to them twice, okay, okay? For them to make these allegations. They talked to me actually one time about this. The second time was about my mom.
Erin Patten (22:18.985)
It's gobbledygoop. If you really want to understand what happened, let's go to court. Let's see the evidence. Let's look at these facts. Let's be in front of a jury.
But I had trial by nothing, trial by the accusers. That was my experience. And that's been so many people's experiences, especially people of color, especially Jesus. Trial by accusers. People who say bad things about you, accuse you of all these horrible things, and then they decide the verdict on you. That's not the situation here. No one decides my verdict.
It is a curriculum. Let's clarify that. What APS did for me, what those caregivers did for me, what this custody situation is doing for me is a curriculum. It is a teaching. These are lessons on how I upgrade and live.
Erin Patten (23:19.942)
In God's truth, in my truth.
And so I just want to leave you with that. Whatever you're going through, remember who you are, how you are connected with God. What promise has God made to you? And if you can't hear it, just keep asking. Wake up and asking. Ask your tarot cards, ask your spirit guides, ask your crystals. Ask, ask.
Claude, your astrology, if you put your chart through us through the through Claude or through ChatGPT, let's talk about this. What's going on in my life? Why am I experiencing these things? This is a self-study, this walk, this life. We can have mentors, you can come to people like me. I can promise you, you know, my divine mentorship program can support you and all that. But at the end of the day, this is your walk. This is your journey.
Of course, I can support you. Of course, he, she can support you. But at the end of the day, you have to walk it. You have to learn from it. You have to evolve in it. So I just want to thank you for this time. As always, I want to encourage you to tap in with me, Rawbeauty, rawbeauty.co.
