Erin Patten (00:00)
So we've officially entered autumn. We've officially entered fall season. And it is the time to start going in. And for those of you who are following the transits and the Venus retrograde and all that's going on with your own personal astrology, I know you're feeling the emotional waves right now because certainly this past week was incredibly emotional for me and also incredibly awakening. We hit the 10-1010.
Erin Patten (00:28)
The Great Reset, as I like to call it, the new moon in Libra. And we're all now operating, in my view, on a whole new timeline. And I feel it for myself. I hope that you all, especially you all who are tapping into yourself and your energy, certainly you should be feeling a shift happening. And it feels almost magical. And I really want to start getting into today how we can start maintaining that magic in our being, how we can maintain
Erin Patten (00:57)
the high vibes, the high energy as we move through the the the autumn season and the slowing down and the falling away. Like I was sit outside and sitting outside and I see the leaves falling like one leaf, one acorn, and it happens just like a little at a time. And it's like these little things falling away and then you know we look up in a few months and then the trees are gonna be completely barren.
Erin Patten (01:23)
And that's essentially what's also happening with us energetically. Like little things are falling away here, people are falling out of our life there. And we want to be able to honor it because essentially burnout, as we hear all about burnout, and also World Mental Health Day was also Saturday. And we want to acknowledge that burnout is not just being tired. I know we sleep, we sleep more, we take a break, we go on vacation.
Erin Patten (01:52)
But we still come back tired because the burnout is not just about the rest. The burnout is about losing yourself. And when we're not honoring ourselves, when we're not honoring our truth, when we're not holding healthy boundaries, we lose ourselves. And that is when the burnout commences. Okay. So I really want to get into my own personal journey around how burnout affected me. And my burnout essentially was my great awakening.
Erin Patten (02:19)
I love to always share this story with you guys when I was living in Detroit. can't believe it, but nearly eight years ago, which is it's perfect because this Venus retrograde, it's mirroring 2018. So eight years ago is when I was going through my great burnout. My great burnout, and I was for launching my first company, Dale Detroit, and it was a beauty company, a plant-based beauty company.
Erin Patten (02:48)
And I was also dealing with the fallout of my father unexpectedly passing away. And then my best friend Desi got murdered on a trip to Jamaica. And then as I was launching my full product line in Macy's eight months after that, my mom attempted suicide. And so I was going through an incredible tough season and I was still trying to push, still doing our Kickstarter campaign, still doing pitch competitions.
Erin Patten (03:16)
And I was really just trying to tryna just ignore my reality, okay? And I really just wanted to make my business work and I thought that my business would give me all the gratification I needed. And not only was I doing that, but I was sharing 50% of this business with a toxic boyfriend that was living in my house and didn't have a job, didn't have any income, didn't have any
Erin Patten (03:45)
any business being in this business with me, he was bald. He didn't even have hair. And so it was just a comedy of errors that I was experiencing. And so talk about losing myself. I had completely lost myself in really living a lie and just really riding off of I I'm in a relationship and and it and it looks better to investors to have this man who used to play
Erin Patten (04:11)
arena football for a couple seasons and the 20 years ago. So it was just, it's laughable now. But in the in as I was going through it, it was incredibly just sad, really. It was just sad. I mean, and I don't want to say sad because it's almost like placing a judgment on it, but it was just, it was just unfortunate that I I I was learning these lessons in this way. But I don't even want to put it as unfortunate because that's still coloring it as something good or bad.
Erin Patten (04:41)
And it just was, it just was what it was. And it was forcing me to really have a hard look at what was going on in my life, what was going on in my being, and how I needed to come back to myself. Okay. All that to say that I just needed to learn those things. And so sometimes when you are feeling like you're burned out, you're feeling like you're tired. And then this time I had gotten to the point where I was, you know, questioning my life purpose and questioning whether I needed to be alive, especially after my mom was going through what she was going through and I was.
Erin Patten (05:11)
Still grieving my father and my best friend was gone. I really felt like I had no one. And so the burned out feeling was kind of what I was talking about last week of the feeling of being alone. And at that time is when I actually started my meditation practice and I was starting my affirmations. And I needed that so badly because I certainly couldn't necessarily feel the shift, but I knew it was happening. Okay. I just trusted the process.
Erin Patten (05:40)
Cause my body was so numb. I I didn't have emotions so much at that time. I I really couldn't feel. I really couldn't cry. All I really had was maybe a little bit of anger every now and then. Cause I would get sometimes in physical altercations with the guy that I was living with. So that was just my anger trying to protect me. I didn't have I didn't have that that those healthy boundaries for myself. And so I was at my lowest of low.
Erin Patten (06:10)
And I was the definition of burnt out. And how I started to unravel that and unpack that was really looking at what I like to call the four leaks. And I do this in my energy audit. And I'll be sure to link it in the in the notes so you guys can be able to track this for yourself. But what you want to look at in your energy audit are the people in your life. Okay, number one, the environment that you're in, that you're surrounding yourself with, whether it's work, social, familial, your family.
Erin Patten (06:39)
three, your thought patterns, okay, and then four, your activities. Like what are you actually doing? And so for me, if you can use my eight years ago story as a good case study, if you will, well, number one, the people in my life, I was in a super draining, super toxic, narcissistic, you name it, relationship, where I was the breadwinner, the the emotional support, the
Erin Patten (07:09)
the the victim all in one. Like I was just all of it at one time and it was just really drainy. And then number two, the environment. So I was really putting myself, even though I was an entrepreneur and calling my own shots, so to speak, I was literally working myself from seven in the morning to two in the morning. I was literally getting no sleep and working all day. So I had really become gone from being a slave in corporate to a slave to my own business.
Erin Patten (07:37)
And then also, you know, just like d doing whatever I had to do to just like push this business of going to network events, traveling here, traveling there, just run, run, run and very, very much not prioritizing the grief, the heaviness, all that I was experiencing. I was just ignoring it. And three, the thought patterns. Okay, well, this was actually what saved me. This was actually what probably kept me alive, is that I was
Erin Patten (08:04)
I was really exploring metaphysic metaphysics at that time. I was learning from this teacher, Dr. Malakazi York, who is pretty controversial now. Yet at the time, he was someone who introduced me to to to metaphysics, to to the light body, to all the things that I explore and ha and have gone on to on a journey of perfection and ac actualizing in my own life and being. So he was my introduction to that.
Erin Patten (08:33)
And I also was working with Deepak Chopra, who also is pretty controversial now too, with the Epstein stuff that's come out. So it's interesting that I I had had gravitated to these early teachers. and it was a Deepak Chopra and an Oprah Win-free 30-day meditation journey. And they're both controversi everybody controversial, you know, but these people introduced me to trying to reformulate my thoughts and and
Erin Patten (09:01)
speaking mantras over my being and journaling and finding gratitude and all those things and really questioning my life around me. So my thought patterns was the part of me that was giving me the energy in that burnout time. And then of course my activities, like what activities in my life could were draining me? Well first and foremost and the only thing was my was my work. So you want to look at these four pillars as you're going through your own energy audit, your activities, the people
Erin Patten (09:30)
The environment and also your thought patterns as you're doing your own energy audit and making sure that you're really calling out and being honest with yourself, like what's giving me energy, what's draining my energy? And you want to be able to be honest with yourself about that because those things can really impact how you feel in terms of being burned out or being fulfilled. And so what we really wanna do when we look at that energy audit.
Erin Patten (10:00)
is come back to ourselves. Like what does reconnection actually look like? And let's fast forward from you know my story that I gave you eight years ago to my story today. Okay. So
Erin Patten (10:15)
Right now it is one o'clock in the afternoon approximately on a Tuesday, and October thirteenth, ten thirteen. And I spent most of my morning, of course, doing a little bit of work and answering emails and calls and social media a little bit here and there. And I also prioritize organizing my bedroom, my bathroom.
Erin Patten (10:41)
I did my full-on meditation, my my my toning, my tai chi, my donjon tapping, my healing wand. I even did my own tarot reading for myself, my magic seven spread with my brother of light tarot cards. And then I came here to channel and give to you. Okay. Like the way in which I move and operate today is from energy overflow.
Erin Patten (11:10)
energy abundance and that's what I mean about going from burnout to reconnection is that before I'm giving fourteen, fifteen, sixteen hours to the work and four to five hours maybe to myself. And four of that five hours I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm upset, I'm unhappy, I'm I'm not loving myself, I'm not honoring myself, I'm I'm eating very little, I'm
Erin Patten (11:39)
I'm being drained in my in my home environment. Well, my home environment could be the most peaceful right now. I have somebed devices that control the energy frequency. I have crystals all around my home, selenite all around my home. I have like I said, my own energy practice, my own spiritual practice in terms of hearing from my guides to do my tarot readings. I I I check on my mom, I I pray over her, I talk to her.
Erin Patten (12:09)
She and I did together last night a digital tarot reading for her. That was really cool. And my home life, my home environment, my my ability to reconnect with myself. I went also to the the steam room yesterday evening. I did a deep conditioning to my hair.
Erin Patten (12:27)
I come first.
Erin Patten (12:32)
There is no way for me to be able to do what I do in terms of even the energy transmission I gave in my social media on Friday. And I'll hope to be able to continue to do more and more of that as my gifts come online. I'll be able to give more and more energy transmissions. And this right here is also an energy transmission of a different form. Yet I would not be able to do this high-level energy transmitting if I were not already full.
Erin Patten (13:01)
Already abundant.
Erin Patten (13:05)
And so this is what I'm wanting to impart on you is the the the necessity of self-pouring into, of putting the self first, of reconnecting to yourself. And in that reconnecting to self is that connection to God because God flows through us. God is us. The energy that that gives us life is God, essentially, his source. And so we don't necessarily have to go to God.
Erin Patten (13:33)
God, we we we already in it. It it's in us. And so, you know, in some in some places, people like to call I that's why I like to call myself a goddess because it is embodied, it is in me. And so I just want to remind us of that, you know, that that reconnection is not just like a an outside retreat, although I do those too. I can help support you with that too. But the reconnection comes from the connection back to yourself.
Erin Patten (14:03)
intentionally, daily, minutely, secondly, on on a on a regular basis, that's what you want to be doing, okay? And I really want to just invite us to to think about those times in our lives when we were not connected. Like for me, I was really able to go back to eight years ago when
Erin Patten (14:30)
when things weren't flowing, things weren't really popping in terms of my energy self, but really on the outside, like I was, you know, winning page competitions at at Essence Festival in New Orleans. I was on the Super Bowl stage stage. You know, I was selling out products at hair shows. You know, I looked like things were going well for me, but on the inside it could be furthest from the truth. So are you
Erin Patten (14:58)
Or have you lived in moments like this where you were really, like I could say, performing really well, looking really good on paper, yet at the same time there was something missing. There was some void, if you will, or a gap between what it looked like but what it felt like. And really ask yourself these questions and just by bringing the awareness to those questions, to those answers.
Erin Patten (15:27)
is the healing is the is the asking of to the universe i want better i want higher i want more expansion i want greater and certainly be very specific too in in when what you're asking yourself around this so
Erin Patten (15:50)
Is it a job? Is it your career? Is it your relationship? Is it your family? So get really specific around what in your life do you feel like is adding unto or taking away from you? Because once you're really able to identify and name those leaks, like I mentioned before, the activities, the people, the environment, the thought patterns, then you're really able to name, what is it, name?
Erin Patten (16:19)
Notice, name, nurture, right? Once you begin to notice it and bring the awareness to it, name it. okay, it's my family life that's not giving me the energy I need right now. What can I bring nurturing to in my family life that can really start to give me energy? Because really the goal is to be able to be nurtured and fulfilled.
Erin Patten (16:49)
In all the areas of our life, okay? That's work-life balance at its finest. Where there is no leakage, there is actually energy giving in the process. And that to me is just like phenomenal when there is like when you're able to just patch up all the leaks, and then that's what's called flow.
Erin Patten (17:11)
And when you're moving in flow and operating in flow, that is the ultimate alignment, okay? And so that's what we're arcing towards. That's what we're moving towards in this practice. And I just want to leave you all with that because this is like my energy here today is just like supremely different from what it was last week, which is okay because I think every week we're going through our own journeys and our own flows, if you will.
Erin Patten (17:41)
Our own our our our emotions are certainly it's on a on a wave. And last week I was so much more emotional and clearing a lot of of wounds, essentially. I I like to say that I was clearing some of my masculine wounding and really bringing balance to my masculine and feminine, which I absolutely feel today. And that's really how we want to be moving, how we want to be operating going forward is in this masculine, feminine balance. And that's like I said, the work.
Erin Patten (18:10)
life balance. The work is the masculine, what we're putting our energy into, what we're activating, what we want to see manifest in the physical. And then our life balance, the feminine aspect is what are we giving, what's feeding us, what's nurturing us? Are we resting? Are we truly resting in our being? Or are we still kind of agitated and in our minds are going a mile a minute, even in our sleep? Okay. So I really want us to
Erin Patten (18:38)
To sit with these questions for ourselves as we move into this next iteration of the seasons. Like I said, this is the autumn season, the fall season, where we're really being called to go inside to maintain more of a posture of self-reflection. And as things you know fall away, the little things drops here and there as the leaves fall, the acorns fall, the people fall away, the opportunities fall away, so that we can really clear the space.
Erin Patten (19:07)
For self-love, for self-nurturing, for self-actualization, for self-giving, all the things we need to give to ourselves so that in the next six months, when we come back to spring next year, whoo! When I say the bloom will be blooming, the bloom gonna be blooming, y'all. Okay. So I am just so grateful that y'all stayed with me today.
